NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Shares of the following companies were among those making notable moves in Tuesday’s U.S. stock market:

Arise Technologies Corp.’s /quotes/zigman/25482 CA:APV +15.00%   U.S.-listed shares gained 10% after the Canadian maker of solar cells said it is talking to several entities about funding the expansion of its silicon production unit.

Best Buy Company Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/219712/quotes/nls/bby BBY +4.44%   shares were up 5% after the consumer-electronics retailer reported first-quarter profit and sales that exceeded expectations. Read full story on Best Buy .

Casey’s General Stores Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/69499/quotes/nls/casy CASY +6.08%   shares rose 5.1% after the convenience-store operator late Monday reported a fourth-quarter profit that topped estimates.

GT Solar International Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/106341/quotes/nls/solr SOLR +7.05%   shares jumped 6.6% a day after the solar-equipment supplier raised its outlook for its fiscal first quarter.

Hutchinson Technology Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/73550/quotes/nls/htch HTCH +19.32%   shares rose 18% after the manufacturer of parts for disk drives hiked its third-quarter outlook.

AngioDynamics Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/92263/quotes/nls/ango ANGO -5.90%   shares were off 5.9% after the medical-device maker delivered a fourth-quarter profit outlook short of analysts’ expectations and said its chief executive had resigned.

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/208208/quotes/nls/dtg DTG -8.63%   shares declined 8.6% after Avis Budget Group Inc. /quotes/zigman/2380077/quotes/nls/car CAR +4.14%   said it would buy Avis Europe PLC. Avis had been bidding against Hertz Global Holdings Inc. for Dollar Thrifty, the third largest car-rental company in the U.S.

Majesco Entertainment Co.’s /quotes/zigman/95467/quotes/nls/cool COOL -15.06%   shares dropped 17% after the video-game publisher late Monday reported second-quarter results.

Siga Technologies Inc.’s /quotes/zigman/63958/quotes/nls/siga SIGA -8.68%   shares fell 7.3% a day after CNBC reported Congress plans to investigate a government contract awarded the biodefense company.
