McDonald's Corp.'s global same-store sales rose 3.1% in May, as adverse weather in the Southeast U.S., worries over food contamination in Germany, and continued consumer headwinds in Japan put pressure on the quick-service chain's sales.

McDonald's shares fell about 1% to $80.36 when the market opened Wednesday, as the May results fell short of analysts' consensus projection of a 3.8% global rise in same-store sales, according to Consensus Metrix.
